In cooperation with a leading escalators and moving walkway manufacturer, Wyltor offers solutions for any space required. Secure and convenient transport, smooth operation (using VVVF), low noise, energy saving, easy maintenance, flexible design, indoor-outdoor installation, special solutions for busy buildings or large heights.
Escalators have become the standard way to move between floors in many public spaces such as train stations and shopping malls. A great alternative to lifts, the escalators are more suited to places where lots of people need to travel between floors at once. Where a lift quickly reaches capacity, escalators operate as revolving elevated stairs to take you between floors, and as a result transport many people incredibly quickly, and are not held back by a certain capacity.
Escalators occupy the same level of space as a staircase would, and have the better benefit of moving far quicker than both the lift and the stairs would.
There are several parts to an escalator. Landing platforms at the bottom and top of the escalators where the stair platforms flatten out for the passenger to move on and off easily. There is the track that carries the passenger, which is held together by the balustrade and the truss. A motor drives the escalator and this sits inside the truss.
It is an efficient system. And depending on design constraints can be as big or as small as your space requires. Escalators provide an exceptional alternative to the lift or stairs. Remaining incredibly quick, sometimes even quicker than the lift, and becomes incredibly practical in settings such as an airport.
They still require maintenance like regular lifts and will need to be ensured that they follow health and safety standards as any person lift would.
Whilst escalators are a great alternative to lifts, they are prone to fail if not maintained well. Your escalator should still comply with LOLER standards and be serviced every 6 months as they are for passengers. Your service can be carried out by a lift technician, and you should gain knowledge of your escalator too, to take care of small issues and minor maintenance issues. If you would like any advice on any of our escalator services, feel free to contact us here.
